Drawing back the Curtin.

Mini, they of the small British cars, have a natural predisposition towards appreciating creative uses of space because their product is one. As sponsors of Rooftop Cinema they commissioned four short films about inhabitants of Curtin House who trade in the floors below the cinema. The films are condensed above but played as separate, extended pieces before screenings during the 2018/19 cinema season.

Mesa Verde, Dot Comme, Metropolis and Rooftop Cinema itself were profiled. Their owners telling the story of how how they helped turn a derelict, century-old building into one of Melbourne’s most idiosyncratic cultural hubs.
